Structure and texture: innovation in outdoor concrete

Monolithic casting

We crafted retaining walls, water features, and an 8-foot fireplace using a single, continuous concrete pour. Standing in stark contrast to traditional blockwork, this seamless monolithic method eliminates visible joints, delivering superior structural integrity and timeless durability.

Art in technique

We sandblasted the wooden formwork prior to pouring, transferring the wood’s natural grain and knots directly onto the concrete surface. This technique yields a uniquely organic texture, effortlessly marrying the visual warmth of timber with the raw strength of concrete.

Materializing unconventional architectural visions

For this San Jose project, we partnered with one of the Bay Area’s most renowned landscape architects to execute a design that demanded absolute mastery of concrete. The challenge was as much aesthetic as it was structural: making massive concrete elements appear organically emergent from their surroundings. Utilizing monolithic architectural concrete, we crafted fluid, solid forms that now serve as the visual anchor for the entire outdoor living space.

Our intervention was critical in solving the complex formwork logistics and precision pour timing, ensuring the final finish flawlessly honored the original artistic vision. By seamlessly embedding fire, water, and stone features into permanent structures, we transformed an uneven terrain into a high-end contemporary masterpiece. The result is a project where construction technique elevates to fine art, proving that structural solidity and visual elegance can coexist in perfect harmony.
